    from isaac:

i don't know how the band would feel about this show, but i was rather disappointed.
the sound was not very good. seemed very quiet to me and stuart was having some difficulties for the first 4 songs or so - i couldn't hear him at all. and the crowd were atrocious. i've never been to a gig in melbourne before, so i don't know if this is the norm, but i shan't be going again. almost every quiet passage was ruined by shouting and hollaring. it wasn't that people were shouting out song requests (tho one request for "like helicon" made me chuckle) it was just idiotic shouting. stuart said at one point that he thought it was the happiest crowd he's ever seen. i wasn't sure it was happiness as opposed to stupidity.

but anyway, the set was only 1 song different to brisbane show - xmas steps instead of fear satan. having seen the sydney setlist, i'm a little sad that i got virtually the same setlist for my 2 shows, but i can't complain. i don't think i would have left particularly satisfied last night if they'd played all rarities with the other problems....and attempting cody would have been a very bad idea with the crowd like they were.

the set did end very well...like herod/batcat/precipice/we're no here were very good. again we got some long noise-fest at the end, this time stuart and john, but it felt rather uninspired to me. was looking forward to seeing barry with his little machine, but that didn't happen.

    in summation:
brisbane was awesome. super crowd, super sound, super venue, super set.
melbourne was average. poor crowd, good venue, poor sound, same set.

    from 'qwertas':

i was at the melbourne show and was blown the hell away by its awesomeness. haha. the only problem i had was with the knobs in the crowd - the dumbest part of it was that the idiots who made the most noise and kept fucking talking during the quieter moments of the set were actually talking about how awesome it all was. i mean, why don't you just shut the hell up and listen to it then. i was about to damn near lose it at them. but the music itself was unbelievable. man, if that was a dissapointing show, then i wanna see what a good one is like.
