    from blair mitchell:

the show was pretty damn good. i actually got lucky to see them since i am from another part of canada and i was around to see other bands including mouse on mars and tortoise. i got to vancouver and mogwai was playing. :)

the show started with bardo pond which i have seen play before. they seemed to have the crowd into their droney set, playing a mixture of new and old songs. mogwai came out shortly after and i rushed to find a good place to watch since i showed up about 2 songs into bardo. the way richards on richards is shaped, i found a place that was pretty much on top of the stage looking down. i had my camera in hand and had a good opportunity to get a few pictures. they started playing with sinewave which was utterly amazing. you could feel the sound pounding through you especially on louder songs like ithica 27-9. they seemed to be a little bored on stage not being very active. at the end of 2 rights they just left their instruments making noise while everyone clapped for more. about 2 minutes later one of the guys came out and said, "we aren't gonna play any encores cuz these monitors are fucking shite". that was a bit of a disappointment but i wasn't too upset since i never thought i would get to see mogwai live.

when they started to clean up i asked one of the band members for the setlist i was eyeing up all night. i tried to get pictures of it just in case i wasn't able to get one. the only problem i had was the lack of nice tour shirts. they were 25$ canadian and they didn't have much printed on them. that kind of pissed me off cuz it would have been a nice souvenir. also, they didnt sell the tour cd. all in all i think my first live mogwai experience was better than i could have expected it to be.
