preview article (china post, 8th october)

    from brad bertrand:

the venue choice was odd yet excellent - aboriginal elementary school in the mountains. the show was a good one, but not as good as others i've seen in toronto. there was a delay of approximately 40 minutes because of an equipment problem. they weren't getting the right sound out of one of the centre monitors. after much trial and error, one roadie realized the sound was actually coming from a stage left monitor. after a quick switcheroo, they were ready to play (but not before a cheesy raffle draw for a t-shirt, put on by the festival organizers).

i had my earplugs ready, though i never needed them. i wouldn't be surprised if there were some noise laws in effect, as i can't imagine the lack of ear-splitting sound was the choice of the band. still, it was a solid show - well worth travelling the length of the island and back to get to!

    from 'jamc74':

mogwai were simply superb. played 'my father my king' for the finale. most of the taiwanese people left when the feedback started. ha ha ha ha. 'helicon 1' was shatteringly loud. 'summer' was brilliant.
