    from 'chocky909':

    what an excellent show!

great sound and venue. fantastic performance and also very impressive considering how much new stuff was played. they really made it look like they'd playing it for years. they looked like they enjoyed themselves too.

most of the new stuff is very metally, brooding, bass heavy in the style of like herod, we're no here and my father my king. they all sounded very individual though and fantastic - not retreads. bat cat is great. some of the new stuff was among the best live mogwai i've ever heard. annoying that i don't even know what tracks they were. i half cried with joy during a particularly amazing white noise assault. the hawk is howling now suddenly makes sense as an album title. my ears are still ringing however as i didn't wear earplugs even though i bought and brought a pair with me.

i also consider myself very lucky to have them play secret pint, tracy and may nothing but happiness come through your door. brilliantly i might add. they played for approx 90 minutes. before 'like herod', stuart commented "we don't do encores anymore because they're stupid"

i'd definitely rate that as the second best mogwai gig i've seen (after newcastle 29/10/98 - my first mogwai show) and hope they play more all seater venues like this in the future. so comfortable and so quiet. bring on the new ep/album/full tour!!!

i really enjoyed remember remember and also aidan moffat was so much better than when i saw him (but couldn't make out a word) with arab strap years back. he was articulate and hilarious for a quiet yet attentive audience. remember remember is a talented fuck and i will definately be buying the forthcoming album. very cute on-stage display too.

    from 'kidmarine':

stuart he appeared to be using crib sheets for his guitar on some of the new songs.

    from graham burgess:

i was lucky enough to be at the qe hall show last night. a simply fantastic show, and most of the new material sounds very excellent indeed, boding well for the autumn. i got to meet the band last night. they are smashing fellows and it was a real pleasure to be able to tell them how much i've enjoyed their wares since i first came across them at the powerhaus in 1996.

    from rob strong:

i was lucky enough to be in row f, fairly central, and it was like having mogwai play in my front room. how loud was the batcat/herod/we're no here run at the end? the bass was making the whole room vibrate.

i think dominic made a mess of something near the start of herod, stuart was laughing at him and he turned away to the drumkit with a 'whoops' expression on his face.

i enjoyed the two support sets as well. remember remember seemed to grow in confidence as his set went on and was building up a looped storm by the end. aidan's set was a great mixture of musically good and very funny.

    from gus:

what a show, easily up there with the best i've seen! the new material is awesome live. the ica shows when they previewed mr beast didn't really (do the then) new material justice so i was initially aprehensive but all that went out the window after a few minutes. considering this is only the 3rd time they've played it to an audience i cannot wait until the next tour, real potential for legendary shows.

this was easily the most enjoyable gig i've been to in london. i guess with the amount of tickets being sold on at inflated pricess these days the little pissed up oiks that normally ruin mogwai gigs for me are becoming a thing of the past...
