    from tim:

well it didn't rain, they played ex-cowboy and they finished right on time. great version of travel is dangerous. shame they didn't finish on one of the bigguns (herod, satan or mfmk).

there were three tv cameras there, one on barry mostly at the back, one in front on a tripod looking up and one at the back of the venue. two big screens either side of the stage looked promising although they went to black between each song so i assume they have no plans to broadcast the whole of or even chunks of the gig, just individual tracks. well, who knows. have to keep a lookout for anything on tv or online.

they didn't 'use' the surround sound as far as i could tell from where i was standing at the front. although the volume was bang on which i assume was because they didn't have to boost it for the people at the back who had plenty of speakers of their own. too bad they didn't send cascading white noise spiralling around the courtyard. the sound was very good so i'm not complaining.

    from gus:

the surround sound was there but i was right at the front so couldn't really appreciate it. it wasn't very obvious for most of the set, most parts i could pick up were drumming although the outro 'beats' at the end of 2 rights did sound amazing with the surround.

was a really top set and the sound was great for an outdoor show but then i didnt expect anything less from mogwai.

    from rob:

beautiful show, with a really cool setlist including five songs i hadn't seen before. use of surround sound was excellent - i stood dead centre just in front of the board, and despite a bit of chatter around me, this was definitely the place to be. it was mostly things that are normally panned (e.g. the drum delay on i know you are...) being panned to an extra dimension, but it was subtle and very effective. the sound overall was superb, and the venue/lighting/weather were all perfect. the clock chimes sounding over the end of 'stop coming to my house' fitted brilliantly!

    from barry burns:

spread over the city there are a few statues that look like people perched on the highest buildings. it's part of an antony gormley installation - event horizon. there was one on somerset house above and behind the crowd and dominic was so sure it was a person who hadn't moved for the whole gig. so engrossed in it that he played a belter of a wrong note when he was looking at it. you can't say we're not professionals.
