back in london now after a brilliant couple of days on the mogwai trail.

the sound was better than in portsmouth and stuart in particular was on fine form, thrashing around the small stage and joking with the crowd when people started calling out for requests saying: "i don't know why you bother, it's all being played off a tape anyway". a cellist was also used for both 'golden porsche' and '2 rights..', which was a pleasant addition. a minor problem arose before they played '..porsche' that took a couple of minutes to solve and had stuart telling us that "at times like these barry usually plays (the theme to) taxi". the whole set was utterly compelling with the band cemementing their position in my mind as the best and most consistent live act i've ever seen. how they can rock so hard and maintain the delicate beauty of their tunes is a wonder. roll on next thursday!
