having seen and enjoyed mogwai in 2001 in denver and phoenix, it was a pretty easy decision to travel the 120 miles to tucson to catch the show (first sight of a mogwaian: stuart eating a sandwich while crossing colfax, denver's main street, lol). only took about 5 seconds into the first song for that decision to be vindicated. that opening buzz lasted until stuart's guitar strap broke going into the quiet part of 'mogwai fear satan', interfering somewhat with the hypnotic nature of that song as stuart played it crouching, balancing the guitar on his knee, while the crew member taped the strap to the guitar body.

the end of the set was also great ('xmas steps', '2 rights', 'mfmk'); my only disappointment, it was one of those occasional shows where they didn't play 'ratts'. come back guys, it may be hot, but your guitar sound feels right at home in the southwest.
