    from sam hunt:

mogwai played the loudest i've seen them yet last night, despite the orange peel's reputation for not accomadating loudness very well. the speakers were rattling like hell, even during the quiet parts. it seemed like the sound system was in jeopardy once the loud part of "scotland's shame" kicked in. stuart and dominic seemed pissed at the many loudmouths in the venue. during the quiet part of "satan," dominic laughed, shrugged, then looked to the sound guy and signalled "turn it up," as if he was ready to deafen the d-bags.

it was my 4th time seeing the band, and i thought i'd never get to hear "my father my king" ever. wish granted! mogwai seemed pissed at the annoying hippie crowd for all the silly banter. the 25-minute demonic epic proved to be the ultimate "fuck you" to the cunts who wouldn't shut up during the quiet parts of "xmas steps" and "satan."

truly off-the-hook decibel levels throughout the set. i saw mogwai along with my bloody valentine at atp ny, and neither of those performances matched the intensity of the end of the encore. people clamped their ears all around me. a very amazing treat for the die-hards who could only imagine the song's live intensity. i can barely hear a fucking thing.

earlier in the day, barry and dominic visited the moog factory
