    from elvis fennert:

stuart spoke/sang some verses from depeche mode's 'enjoy the silence' during the last 3-4 minutes of 'my father my king'.

thats a very special combination, i think.

    from peter strom:

it was the 3rd mogwai gig for me, and comparing to the other 2 (all tomorrows parties april '00 and copenhagen may '01) this was the worst one. maybe the problem was mine, since i haven't really been listening as much to mogwai as i did before the previous gigs, but then maybe it wasn't. of course, they were great, the volume was loud, but i still felt something missing. my all time favourite mogwai song, helicon 1, wasn't as amazing as it was the past times, they didn't play my second best song (xmas steps) and at times it felt like they only did their noise on routine, wanting the hour and a half to be through so they could go off stage. but then again maybe it was just my problem that night, it seemed like the germans enjoyed the show (even though no one really understood stuarts jokes) and the end of 2 rights (just before they went of for the encore) was one of my mogwai highlights ever - a really really great version of that song, with sounds i never heard them playing before, with barry on song and with loads and loads of noise. and of course, mogwai is one of the best live bands there are, and one of the few bands i know all the songs they play live, so of course it was great after all - i just wanted it to be a little bit... greater.

and the 15 mins i heard of kid606s set was really.. something. strange noise stuff on songs like missy elliot's 'get your freak on', aha's 'take on me' etc - quite something.
