    from christian sandberg:

the gig last night was very good, i've seen them once before in copenhagen. this was one was much better because they played more songs this time. the venue pumpehuset looks like a former church and it was a quite a cosy atmosphere. before the gig i noticed john who was talking to the sound guy about something. i went up to him and asked him if they had any setlist available. they hadn't made any yet so i had to take notes of which song they played.

the gig started about 10:15 pm or so and the band strolled quietly into the stage while the audience clapped and cheered. they started out with two new songs from the album, 'kids will be skeletons' and 'hunted by a freak'. the latter one features barry doing something with his voice with a vododer, the whole thing was spot on. the lads seemed to be in a good mood and stuart was telling funny stuff to the audience between songs. the favorite moment of the whole night was 'helicon 1', you know when they're gonna play it when stuart and dominic switch their instruments. at the end of the song when dominic played the last chords the crowd gave out a big roar which almost shocked stuart. he went immediately to the mike and said something like "yeah, good one!". and to my delight they ended the first set with '2 rights make 1 wrong' which had barry doing some really "fat" bass sounds with his synth.

i've been reading the setlists at brightlight recently and it's nice that they play more than one encore. which they did tonight to everyone in the crowd's delight. too bad that some people missed the second encore because they thought that the gig was over. but they returned once again with an amazing version of 'xmas steps'. and even though the violin part is missing at the last part i must say that they really played it well. thanks to mogwai for playing a really long show which lasted about 1h50min. can't wait to see them once again on the 1st of july. cheers.
